Discovering Paradise in Buckeye, Arizona: Verrado vs. Victory

Are you considering a move to Buckeye, Arizona, and looking for the perfect community to call home? Buckeye has many beautiful communities, but today we are going to talk about my favorites. Verrado and Victory. Each has its distinct charm and character. I’ll help you unravel the unique offerings of these two hidden gems to make your home-buying journey smoother.

Buckeye, Arizona - A Hidden Gem in the Desert

Before we dive into the specifics of Verrado and Victory, let's take a moment to appreciate the beauty of Buckeye itself. Nestled in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, Buckeye is a place where the rugged landscapes meet modern amenities and you can truly experience the best of Arizona living. It hasn’t always been this way in terms of amenities. Due to the rapid growth we have seen in Buckeye over the last several years, it has taken a while for commercial to catch up to the needs of its residents! We are well on our way now!

Verrado: Where Classic Meets Contemporary

Location: Verrado is situated in the foothills of the White Tank Mountains, which offer breathtaking views and serene surroundings. It's known for its small-town charm combined with modern conveniences.

Community Feel: Verrado prides itself on its close-knit community. With tree-lined streets, charming parks, lighted porches, and a vibrant town center, it's a place where neighbors become friends. Community events are a cornerstone to fostering a strong sense of belonging. From concerts in the town center to farmers markets, to tree lightings, and Easter Egg hunts, there is something for everyone!

Outdoor Paradise: If you're a nature enthusiast, Verrado has much to offer. Hiking and biking trails wind through the White Tank Mountains, providing endless opportunities for outdoor adventures and wildlife sightings. Speaking of the outdoors, Verrado is home to deer, bobcats, coyotes, javelina, tons of unique reptiles (including rattlesnakes), the Gila Monster, Chuckwallas, and Greater Short-Horned Lizards! We have even encountered some Sonoran Desert Toads here, also known as the Colorado River Toad (these are toxic, so do not touch them, or let your dogs put them in their mouth). Of course, we also have scorpions…but let’s not get carried away!

Golf Enthusiasts' Dream: Verrado is also home to two separate Tom Lehman-designed, 18-hole, championship golf courses making it a golfer's paradise. Verrado’s “Founder’s” course is unique in that the front nine is mostly level terrain, with generous fairways that lead to flat and welcoming greens, making it very player-friendly. Holes are all framed by beautiful desert landscapes (be careful when looking for your lost ball however, you may just run into a rattlesnake or two).

On the back nine, the course starts to wind its way into the surrounding mountains. Holes 11 through 14 have significant elevation changes and rolling fairways, adding quite the challenge to your game. As you advance through these holes, you'll be treated to breathtaking views – both from the tee areas and when looking back from the greens - nothing short of stunning.

Victory: Active Living at Its Best

Location: Victory, on the other hand, is situated within the acclaimed Verrado community, offering an active adult lifestyle for those aged 55 and over.

Lifestyle: Victory is all about embracing an active and social lifestyle. Victory residents have access to a 27,000-square-foot state-of-the-art community center and a 7,000-square-foot fitness club and spa with every piece of training equipment you could want, along with a yoga studio, where residents can take group fitness classes. Pickleball and tennis courts are popular here, but maybe not as popular as the Victory Steps. Not everyone’s idea of fun, but one of the best workouts and views you will find in the West Valley. The stairs consist of 340 railroad ties, ascending nearly 200 feet, and boy does it pack a punch to the quads! Once you reach the top, you can take any number of additional hiking trails that extend out from there.

Golf Lovers' Haven: Victory Golf Course, designed by golf legend Tom Lehman, offers residents a beautiful and challenging course that's perfect for golf enthusiasts. It’s known for its generously wide fairways and expansive greens. While the greens don't have excessive undulation, they do feature subtle challenges that keep golfers on their toes. These greens include hidden nuances like shelves, dips, and deceptive false edges that may not be apparent from the fairway. My favorite hole is 18 with the only water hazard on the course and beautiful views as the hole looks uphill between chiseled-out rock walls.

A Blend of Luxury and Comfort: The homes in Victory are designed with the active adult in mind, offering comfortable living spaces and modern amenities tailored to the needs of the 55+ community.
